Munich Re's Central Procurement (CP) team takes global responsibility for all procurement-related topics, ranging from strategic sourcing and supplier (risk) management to procure-to-pay and all overarching governance and procurement strategy topics. This includes CP's budget responsibility and accountability. As a Consultant Procurement Financial Performance, you will pave the way for CP's sustainable, cost-effective future, allowing it to focus on value-added initiatives that drive CP's long-term success. Your contribution will create transparency and enable data-driven management decisions. By working closely with the CPO, the Head of Procurement Excellence and CP's Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will prepare CP for its future challenges.

Your Job

  • Define a global performance management framework, including KPI definition, to enable proactive management, cost effectiveness and compliance with financial guidelines
  • Monitor all Procurement KPIs (e.g. Procurement Success, Addressed Spend, Process efficiency KPIs) to identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of Munich Re's procurement function
  • Benchmark CP against industry peers and provide expert guidance on industry leading practices, standards, etc.
  • Assume responsibility for generating budget and staffing transparency based on systematic data collection and evaluation
  • Plan and monitor CP's global budget with reinsurance controlling, CPO and SLT, including identifying and implementing cost optimization measures, e.g. AI solution vs. staff recruitment
  • Plan and monitor CP's global IT investment budget with all relevant stakeholders, ensuring rollout of CP's technology roadmap
  • Regularly track CP's external expenditure and generate reports to review spend against budget targets
  • Derive recommendations for action based on your financial analysis
  • Develop the procurement analytics roadmap with Procurement Analytics
  • Engage in projects to develop CP's value proposition as part of broader cost management initiatives
  • Your Profile

  • Master's degree in business administration, economics, or related field
  • Proven track record in controlling and/or performance management within procurement (or similar)
  • 3+ years work experience
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and solution-oriented skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and thrive in a collaborative team environment
  • Basic knowledge of data analytics and related tools such as Power BI a plus
  • Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information and company matters
  • High level of reliability and integrity, as well as initiative and commitment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English and willingness to work in an international environment
