We believe that inclusion is key to understanding people’s varied healthcare needs. Together, we embrace individuality and share a passion for exceptional care. Join Roche, where every voice matters.

The Position

A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love. That’s what makes us Roche.

Pharma Early Development is an exciting field in biomedical research that is central to delivering innovative medicines to patients. At Roche this involves working with colleagues across disciplines to integrate activities along the spectrum of development from the lab to patients, including Portfolio development, Research, Biomarkers and Translational Technologies. This position will give candidates the opportunity to experience cutting edge drug development and to gain experience in drug development from a Medical Director perspective.

This position will enable you to acquire hands-on experience in Early drug development, and to be directly involved in the clinical development of therapeutic compounds in Ophthalmology. You will work closely with Patient Partnership, Safety, Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Operations and Regulatory teams, integrating into an active program at Roche, and gaining new industry-specific skills. In addition you will:

  • Participate in core responsibilities of clinical science and understand the role of different functions within Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED)

  • Observe and support ongoing projects within the therapeutic area of the Ophthalmology department

  • Contribute to key steps of drug development including strategic planning (e.g. clinical development plan, target product profile), preparation of Study material (e.g. study protocol), internal and external meetings (e.g. Investigator meeting, Scientific Advisory Meeting)

  • Collaborate with different functions including Research, Biomarkers and Clinical Scientists, Patient Partnership, Safety, Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Operations and Regulatory and to plan and implement study activities such as clinical endpoints and study design

  • Interaction with senior leadership and patient associations

Who you are

You’re someone who wants to influence your own development. You’re looking for a company where you have the opportunity to pursue your interests across functions and geographies. Where a job title is not considered the final definition of who you are, but the starting point. Furthermore, it is essential that you bring all the following experiences and qualifications:

  • Degree in Medicine (M.D.) or MD/PhD with deep expertise in Ophthalmology

  • Previous industry experience within biomedical research in a large international matrix organization is essential

  • Previous experience in pharmaceutical or drug development strongly also desired
